I need to get another set of shackles for a Chally. About 10 years ago I bought a set of the then popular HD shackles that were thicker, gold in color, and had sleeves to keep the shackles parallel. I liked them and want to get another set but I can't remember where I got them from. Anyone remember these?

It looks like I got them from Just Suspension. What happened to them? I went to their site and all they sell now is complete kits?

Good question, I bought UCAs and Strut rods from them, great products and good prices.

Now they only have overpriced kits?

Might be able to get individual parts if you give them a call?

I got some from Mr Gasket that were nice and heavy duty. I think I bought them from Mancini but not sure. I put mine at the lenth I liked and cut the rest off so they look like stock shackles. Ron

Now I remember as I bought the Mr Gasket shackles from a local speed shop here in Balt county. Ron

I have some aftermarket ones but they don't have any 'sleeves to keep them parallel' I took them off my '72 demon when I got new SS leafs and didn't need the extension any more.

I'm a fan of the original pieces. I bought a set of MP shackles and the threaded part snapped off of one when my buddy torqued it down. I assumed he bullied it and ordered another set. When it came in I promptly snapped off one of the threaded parts again with a 1/4" ratchet and only wrist strength- no arm or chest pulling. Total junk.

I ended up putting an old set of pitted stockers from my '73 swinger on the demon. They held decent torque just fine and I put the mr. Gasket set on the swinger. I am suspicious that they don't stay so parallel. I just got another used original set off a member and they are going on soon.

I thought about welding the bolts to the side plate to minimize sway and side to side movement in the mr. G's but never got around to it. I would like to see the ones with the 'sleeve' they sound cool.

Rdr

I've been thinking about it more, and there is no reason I can't just make the shackles, including the sleeves. The car I'm planning on using them in has all the original 40 YO rubber and it's gone. Most of the popping and creaking seems to be in the rear, so that's where I'm going to start getting creative. I've left the car sitting since '04 because it needs restored, but I wanna drive it now since there's no telling when a resto is gonna happen.
