Being I am looking to replace the cam in my 528 curious what the specs are of the cams most of you racers are running and cubic inch displacment. I know there are lots of things that determin what cam duration, lift and centerline to use but would like to hear what you are running? And is your car dual purpose race/street or auto/4spd?

I put a cam in my 416 that I had laying around the
shop... the car is my Rampage which will be a street/strip
car but built for drag week... specs are 105 lsa
installed at 105... 260/262, lift .640/.643... this
is a solid roller.... I have a couple other rollers
that I can use also but I'm starting with this one

Dwayne Porter speced my cam and I could not be happier. Course you know my 63 is a street/strip car. I use a solid flat tapped cam with 264 & 270 @ .050. Lift is .624 and .632 with my Hughes 1.6 rockers. Has a 110 LSA and I have it in with a 106 ICL. I really like it as it has the idle just right for me (just enough rump rump to sound nasty but idle fine) and it makes plenty of power. I know the car will go a bit faster as it ran so bad last time out I was surprised it went 11.0's. Oh its a 493 using a .030 over 440 block and a 440source 4.15 crank. Ron

My build is similar to yours ; heavy B-body, pump gas compression and Big cubes (572ci) with auto trans and 4.10 gears.

Dwayne built the engine and specced the cam which uses a custom Comp solid roller that specs out with 266/272 @ .050 and 110* Lsa. The valve lift is in the .660 range with 1.5 rockers. Idles fine @ 1000rpm in gear and makes killer torque (720ftlbs peak @ 4400)

Interesting: 9 replies so far and 5 of the cams were spec'd by Porter Racing Heads (including mine).

But I see no point in posting my specs 'cuz your 528 Hemi and my 440 Wedgie are pretty far apart in terms of... well... everything, really.

I have been told for my use a car that is heavy and a 4spd with a 354 gear and fairly mild compression not to go more than 260+ in duration. It will keep the torque down low where it is usable on the street and the fact that I am not spinning it above 6000 rpm. I also only have 10.1 comp and was told that is a consideration in running a larger cam.

This is in my 383, but as the old saying goes "smaller engines need bigger cams".

Every thing you mention says go short on duration! Heavy, very low compression, 6,000 rpm. If Duane spec'd the cam, don't look back.
