I'm almost finished putting my 1973 Plymouth Satellite with longitudinal torsion bars back together. Now when I'm setting up the torsion bars, the instruction manual says to put them in the rear sub-frame first and then into the slots on the lower control arms. It does not mention any specific position to have the control arms in, so I'm assuming they only go in on one position?!? It seemed like the hex of the torsion bar would only go in when the control arm was hanging low and the adjustment screw was completely backed off. Is this correct?

Yes, put them back together with everything hanging loose.

All bolted together, but don't tighten the LCA pivot shaft nut, strut rod nut, or cam bolt nuts until t-bars are in and weight of car is on wheels rather than on jack stands. This prevents twisting of bushings from "jack stand hanging" to "weight on wheels" position.

Also, to get the bar into the hex in the LCA, some folks have to remove the upper control arm bump stop to get the suspension assembly low enough to get the bar in the hex. Depends sometimes on how big a bar it is. My 1.00" bars went in without having to remove the bump stop. Smaller diameter bars, you might have to.

Ok good, Mine went in without removing the bumper. I was just worried that I was supposed to get them in when the lower control arm was set at ride height (which was impossible). Thanks guys
