I have a reverse pattern turbo action shifter in my dart and the last two races iv'e over shifted from low streight to high (Third) gear.
If I'm paying attention I shift it with no issues but if i'm paying more attention to the lights it can go right to high gear. Anyone else have this shifter and had this problem?

I have this shifter as well on a couple of occasions this has happened to me. I called them up asked them if there was a solution to my overshifting and was told I could buy the other "gate" for this shifter that is also reverse pattern and it will prevent the overshift. I bought mine new and spen a lot of money for the thing and was not going to give them any more of my money. I made myself get used to it and now have no issues with overshifting. I believe the other gate is around $50.00 and is listed on their website.

I think if rotated your shifter a little bit counter clockwise it would help you out maybe. If you don't pull 100% straight back that can happen pretty easy.

I did this earlier this year, the run before i ran 10.31 at 130, the run where i pulled straight to 3rd from first i ran 10.51 but still ran 129 mph.

I had the same problem when I first started using mine. Now, I do not leave my hand on the shifter while driving. I just hold my hand in front of the handle and smack the handle back when it is time to shift. A quick hit and it will stop at second,,then the handle will kick to the right and be ready for the next gear change. I have not had any miss-shifts as long as I keep my hand off the shifter and do the 'smack/slap' routine.

I've done it with mine, lost a big round last year (for me anyway) because of it...So far so good this year.

I just leave a couple fingers on it, not my whole hand

yep had the same problem I just got the other gate problem solved.
The problem with the gate is if you slap it hard it just passes the 2nd gate and goes right to 3rd,if you just pull it easy it wont do that.
That gate you have is really best when used with the air shifter.

Thats why I dont like these shifters, if you ask, you will get hundreds of people who say they love them...
I think thats because it the ony shifter they have tried....
Hurst 1/4 Stick is twice the shifter IMO. I have gave up one round right off the top of my head because of this shifter!

on another note i put the shifter in a slow streetstrip car,mid tens, and it works great hand shifting.you just cant get to excited with it.

I have one and had same problem because they were designed for air shifters and did not want to buy another gate plate. I just took the shifter apart and turned the shifter 180 degrees around and now you have the proper gate that stops on the 1-2 shift and you pull the handle over for the 2-3 shift.Hope this helps....

That is why I switched to the forward pattern shift kit. They offer an automatic kit that also retains race characteristics when shifting manually.

I use a B&M Quicksliver ratchet action shifter. You'd have to really pull back on it to go into 3rd...as a matter of fact I don't know if it would even go from 1st to 3rd...

i put the hidough PPP in mine but honestly i think the qutr stick is just as good for a third the price.

i have a b&m pro ratchet. no problem, ever. seems lots of members have problems with turbo action shifters. i'd take the loss & get something else, before u ruin a trans or power plant. stay safe, seeya.

i was having that problem,,,you (cannot) keep ur hand on that shifter and try to do it smooth,,,literally have to slap it and let the spring move the shifter handle for you..and then slap it for 3rd,even when im just going super slow for ride around the hood its tuff shift it smooth...but during a race i thinks its awesome shifter

You need the other gate; the one you have is WAY too easy to go immediately into 2nd. On a hard-leaving car, you definitely don't want to leave with your hand on the shifter, regardless of which gate you use, but other than that, it's something you can just slap into the next gear.
