I picked up a used UltraDyne Solid Roller.. On paper its perfect for my application. But I am worried with the increase of rocker ratio, with fairly aggressive lobe, I may or may not use it.
So how does one know if it will tear up stuff, wear out springs, and just flat out not be stable in the intended upper rpm range the engine will see.
Here is the cam specs.
311/311 @ .020
278/278 @ .050
.682/.682 lift with 1.5 RR
108 LSA .4544 lobe lift.
Now the problem is I have T&D individual paired rockers with 1.75 rocker ratio. This equal's about .795 Lift!
Engine is a 500 inch low deck with 14:1 compression and worked over B1 Originals. Fairly light Tube Chassis Duster.
I have a set of Pacaloy 1224's with 1.625 diameter 300 seat and 800 lbs open.
The cam is listed on Bullet Cams web site, under the UltraDyne Mater lobe archive.
Does Harold B still work for Bullet? He'd be the man to ask...
So how much does added rocker ratio make when jumping to such a high rate rocker ratio?

Right, but don't expect to talk to Harold since he's long gone from that operation.

Called them this morning, they said that was a common lobe, used in Chevy and Fords all the time. And not to worry.

With UDs reputation for fast ramps, i would be tempted to plot out the lift every couple of degrees and have someone look at it. Better that than punishing the valvetrain severely if the guy was mistaken? Reason I suggest this is I used a specially selected UD cam from Harold some years ago and it was unstable with K1000 springs, needed much stouter comp 947 triples with about 50 percent more load. I was only running 6800 rpm too, motor picked up significantly and quit breaking springs.
