I am interested in this too. I have heard some grumblings that 440 source sells a lot of good stuff except water pumps. The reports are kind of 50/50. The 440 source web site has very specific directions on what size gasket to use between the water pump and the water pump housing. I would think if you follow those suggestions that you would not have any problems.

your better off using the factory housing. it's well engineered and flows plenty of coolant.

a customer brought one in for his engine build along with some other parts. after comparing it to the original we decided not to use it. we both decided the weight loss wasn't worth the potential problems. maybe they've improved them since then.

If you get one I'd eyeball it good like should be done with any part (new or used) that way you can return it ASAP if it is restricted. EDIT What about calling them & asking if the problem has been addressed as they are aware of it

there you have it. a couple people seem to like them just fine and some don't. i only saw one of the passenger side outlet pump housings and it didn't look any better than their drivers side outlet pump housing. Andy and Brandon are tight, so maybe he got the new and improved version.

I never know what to make of these threads.
all I can do is speak from my own personal experience.
4,000 miles on my 440 source rotating assembly with no problems. and yes, I scraped the bearings like brandon told me to.
I have a drivers exit 440 source pump housing, and did not do anything to it except bolt it on and replace the curved vane water pump with a straight vane water pump, so that I could spin the pump backwards with my custom serp. belt set-up, and have not had a single cooling problem whatsoever.
the "high volume" pump that is included with the housing uses curved vanes and I'm sure they work GREAT when spun the "right" direction. but with curved vanes, spin it backwards and it just cavitates. take a straight vane pump, and it won't matter what direction you spin it, water flow is exactly the same.
