Well, with the announcement of the route, the brothers are fired up again, and in DJ Duster fashion, they are biting off more than they can chew!!!
So here is where we stand, kinda. Sorta.
Darren: After he read the part about breaking my car and leaving me hanging, he called me up and called me a liar, cursed at me, told me to never write about him again, and then hung up. We haven't spoke since, but reports are Yoko is history and he's back with his previous GF of 7 years, who is an absolute sweetheart and far better than he deserves, but...I digress! He has made progress on the 73 Charger with the stealth headed 440, so he should be ready to go.
Boone: Boone, Dale, and I completed a 3-way trade shortly after DragWeek 2011. I gave Dale a basket case 70 Barracuda Gran Coupe, (all body work done, new paint, but needs everything else) for his 66 yella Satellite and boot. Then I traded the Satellite and a stroker BB to Boone for his blue Belvedere. Boone has requisitioned Dad's old bracket race truck we built him 10 years ago, with the plan of playing in the "Gasser" or "match bash class". It's a 65 step side Dodge 100 that we used to run under the moniker of "BARNYARD VIPER", it went 12.0 with a 383, 727, and 5.57's in an A-body 8 3/4.
To meet the 60's theme we need to change the name a bit, the leading candidates so far are "Barnyard Bullet", "Barnyard Bully", and "Barnyard Basher"...we could use some Moparts help with this one!
Anyway, the plan is a roll bar, fuel system uprgades etc. Then I'm supplying a 440 block, 4.300 X 4.350 steel rod rotating assembly, my old slightly ported Eddie RPM's, my Cal custom valve covers, my isky ductile rockers, and my Weiand tunnel ram with 2 750s...(I am so getting screwed on this deal!!)

Dale: Ok, this poor kid is so far over his ski's, and he doesn't even know it!! He's got the Barracuda, but he also traded my Dad out of a Back-halved Gremlin he's been wanting for a long time. He has them both at home now and is working diligently on both!! I asked him today..."Which one are you trying to take on Drag Week?" "Both, that's the way I'm approaching it, I haven't decided yet..". Of course he also has taken on the job of building Boone's engine...this is going to get interesting! Me: I'm really conflicted about the direction I want to go with the Valiant. Repair it, change tires, and try again. Go through the small block, and swap the J heads out for the W-5's on the shelf. Or switch to the Indy Maxx 512 lowdeck with Indy -1s, get the car certed, and really make some noise!! All of those decisions however, may end up being for DW 2013. I'm a realist, (OK, that's a flat out lie, a simple look at my available parts list proves that.) but with all my brothers are trying to accomplish, I'm likely to take the path of least resistance. I've already ordered new wheels for the Belvedere, and I'll be mounting M/T Drag Radials (no more switching at the track) get rid of the rediculous 2.76s and put in 3.55s, weld in a set of frame connectors, add HD leafs, and good rear shocks, upgrade to disk brakes up front, and go run trouble-free 11.60's all week in Daily Driver. Did I say "Trouble-free"??, hah!! From the mouths of Fools....

Actually, I'm just gonna ride shotgun with Darryl!! That's truly the path of least resistance!!
Billy you just need to pull the engine and trans out of the Valiant do the repairs and put back together, two weekends and its done.

Phil, These are the "proposed rules", with a final comfirmation due any day. Last year was won with a low 12 second average...expected to go nuts this coming year. We would like to just have fun make some friends and maybe get the old bucket of bolts in the tens... MATCH BASH •Match Bash is for retro-style doorslammers of the early ’60s. Body styles are restricted to ’28-’67 American cars and trucks, and Anglias. To qualify for this class, a car must have the appearance of an old-time Gasser, straight-axle, or altered-wheelbase car as agreed upon by the Drag Week tech committee. This includes a nose-high stance or solid front axle conversion, a drastically altered wheelbase, radiused rear-wheel openings, retro lettering, and period-correct wheels. Match Bash entries may not have a lowered stance, billet wheels, wheels more than 16 inches in diameter, modern graphics, or modern-looking scoops, spoilers, or wings. For approval prior to the event, send photos of the car to DragWeek@hotrod.com. •The following are not allowed: A chassis fully constructed of round tubing, Lenco-type transmission, strut front suspension, fenderless configuration. •The following are allowed: Fiberglass body components, engine setback, driver setback, rectangular tubing framerails. •Must use American engine families from ’67-and-earlier model years. EFI may only be used on traditional stack-type injection manifolds or on traditional-appearing supercharger hats. The only power adder allowed is a non-screw-type roots supercharger. P-Body, Haven't figured it out yet, but I believe the tires are the culprits.

Nice read Billy, and as for the Truck, I have several name suggestions all incorporating your "Barnyard" theme... a: Barnyard Alfa-[Edited by Moparts - Family Friendly Site - Keep it clean] b: Barnyard HMIC (head mopar in charge) c: Barnyard Barracuda I can't believe they edited c-o-c-k, it's a rooster
