Would like to know if anyone would know if there is anything special about these emblems. My Mother drove this car off the showroom floor of Moss Motors Dodge in Riverside, California in May of 1967. It has never been painted, the engine has never been out and there is no rust anywhere! My father told me that I would never see these emblems on any other R/T. They WERE THERE when my Mom drove out of the showroom. Someone mentioned that this could indicate a specially built 440.
Feed back would be greatly appreciated.

'67 R/T would say "440 MAGNUM" or "426 HEMI" on the front fenders.

"V8" would indicate a 318, 361 or 383 (2bbl.), none of these engines were available on the Coronet R/T.

As I recall, if the fenders had a "V8" emblem on the vehicle it was a 318 car. I am not 100% sure on this, but when I bought my 67 Coronet 440 as a roller and decoded the vin, it was a 318 car and it did have the "V8" emblem on it. BTW, mine is a clone... Just my

The Hemi R/Ts wore a fender emblem but not the 440 equipped cars.

my 68 dart that came with a 273 v-8 had these on it as a matter of fact.

I wouldn't dispute the dealer doing some "factory upgrades" though. My car actually has some pretty trippy options done after the factory was out of the picture, and before delivery.

V8 emblem was for 2 barrel equipped cars only. 440 R/T's did not have any fender emblems. Check Your vin number to see if genuine R/T or the factory made a Boo Boo and put a V8 emblem on, of which I would remove. (personal preference)

, no V8 badges of any kind on 67 R/T fenders, just 426 Hemi badges on Hemi cars, but no badging on 440 cars.

440 was standard in R/T, so really the R/T badge tells you it's a 440, you know?

The "few" 67 Chargers that came with a factory 440HP got those "440Magnum" fender emblems. I actually thought it would have been a good idea for the R/T too.. just my

Thanks for all of the feed-back. But the VIN# is definately an R/T Vin# and the V8 emblem most definately came on the car new. Research as to the validity of the car not in question. There is absolutely no doubt that it is an R/T. Yes, it is a 4 barrel carburetor. This emblem had to have meant something!! I anyone knows, please let me know.
Thanks

Sounds to me like they had popped the wrong fenders (ones with holes for the emblem) on an R/T and just put the V8 emblem on it to cover the holes.

Believe me they were not against doing stuff like that to get the car out the door.

Could have also had an accident between the end of the line and delivery.

It means someone made a mistake. Nothing more...nothing less.

The badges are not supposed to be there on an R/T model. They do not signify anything special.

ChryslerCorp made cars for their dealers to sell, not cars for restorers or fanatics about accuracy. There are so many examples of factory goofs, yours is actually not very far out there.

I'd rather have one of the cars with Roadrunner on one side and GTX on the other than this.
