Hi!

I have a 69 Charger HEMI which Im currently restoring and Im not sure which would be the correct front bumper horns for my car.

I have 2 68-69 charger front bumpers and I noted some differences in the length of the bumper horns.

What would be correct for a 69?

Both types are listed in the parts catalog. I have seen more of the short ones than long in many years of looking at 68-69 Chargers. Short are my personal preference. I have not yet seen any explanation why the two types. So I guess it is your choice.

This topic has come up a few times on the Charger board, and if I remember correctly, (and I probably don't) the long ones are correct for a 69 with a late build date of May or June 1969 and later. My own opinion is that the long ones are just wrong. I'd use the short ones.

Here is page from the dealer data book showing bumper guards as standard equipment with no reference to short or long. I bought my first 69 Charger in 1975 and have been a 68-70 fan since the 68's first came out (way before the Dukes of Hazzard craze). Sure would like to know why the 2 types, maybe different production plants?

To my knowledge, it was a date timeline that determined the long vs. the short. The majority of them were the short (under the bumper) bumperettes. Somewhere half way through the year or so, my charger is a May 9, 69 car, they started putting the longer ones on. I actually like the look of the longer ones vs. the shorter ones.
