I had a seal go bad on my 72 dart's steering gearbox (lower pitman seal) last week and lost all my fluid. I was close to a gas station and was able to get some powersteering fluid to get myself home, only problem was the fluid was the red/ATF kind and not the clear kind I was using.

Now that I've got everything all fixed, I'd like to flush the system to get any remaining ATF fluid out.

Whats the best way to flush the system?

Get a helper , to turn the steering wheel back and forth while the engine is running ,remove the return hose from the pump body and cap the nipple. Start the engine and have the helper turn the wheel back and forth while you direct the return hose into a bucket and pour PS fluid into the pump, stop when it's the color of the PS fluid , reconnect return hose and fill to proper level.

There may be an easier way ?
