I have a '90 Acclaim that has been stalling out (2.5 4 banger) and recently I changed the fuel filter and added fresh gas to it. Now it will sit and idle ok. The distributor was replaced two weeks ago.
As mentioned, it will sit and idle for quite a while but every now and then it will get an occassional miss in it. It sometimes likes to die when you put it in gear as well. It seems to have a bog in it if you nail the throttle.
All I can think of is that there maybe water in some of the leftover gas or trash. Any other suggestions that I can try?

Has the cam timing changed due to the belt slipping?
The belt was replaced two years ago and has been driven very little so I figure it's ok..

Clean the throttle body and IAS motor may need cleaned or replaced. Try running it and spray threw the throttle body. By the way make sure the coil is goodI have seen them fail part way and cause a problem esp if it starts right back up
Thanks. I will try that..
What part is the IAS motor? Since this takes the cannister type coil, would any 12v coil be ok?
It doesn't really have a problem starting back so you maybe on to something there.

IAC is the bypass looking thing in the throttle body. Open throttle spray in there, take a toothbrush and scrub walls and edge of butterflyand then rinse out, spray loads in the bypass hole (IAC). start it up, might take a few cranks as it is "flooded" as it idles spray in the IAC hole until it almost dies, do this as often as you can with your can of Gumout or whatever. Seafoam is an entire system cleaner, 1/2 sucked into the intake, and the other half in the tank. When you suck it into the intake through the power brake hose or whatever vacuum hose you can find, let it sit for an hour or better yet overnight. When you restart it, it'll billow white smoke like a sky writer until it burns off.

Ok..I changed the air idle control valve and the fuel pressure regulator. It is still doing the same thing. Please help!!
I did notice that there is a bit to much oil in it(not terribly full but more than needed). Can this cause a problem?? EDIT:Not as full as I thought??
