Should a 69 Barracuda 340 be blue or orange?

I'm pretty sure they aren't orange. When did the small blocks stop being red?

Oh boy, here we go...this is a tough one, as there doesn't seem to be any one definite answer.

In 1968, it seems, all 340's were red. However, in 1969, some believe the red was carried into that model year, and then switched to turquoise. Others say they started as turquoise, then switched to orange. Then there are those that say they were all turquoise.

But the general consensus seems to be that most, if not all, 340's of that year were turquoise.

What is the build date on the engine?

If I'm wrong, you can flog me with a wet noodle. I did my best. I will bow to Rhinodart's superior knowledge of 1969 340's.

1969 340s are TURQUOISE.

My original, one owner (me) 69 Barracuda 340-S built at Hamtramck late Nov 1968 is turquoise. This photo is a different but similar one-owner survivor 69 340-S.

If it isnt a resto, I would go with red.
Turquoise is ugly as sin.

Chrysler industrial red from duplicolor is a pretty good shade.

My brothers 68 Dart was the red-orange color. As said many years were turquoise but since my BB is orange it must looks best on SB's also. Ron

I don't care what anybody says....some 340's built in 1969 were ORANGE!

Not only would turquoise be correct, I think its the best looking engine color Chrysler had

My 71 340 is red. Then again it's in my 67 Belv 318 car.
