Ok got my 340 back in the car. Got it started but it is making a clacking noise. Noise doesn't go away when you pull plug wires from each plug. I have a hydraulic cam, if a lifter wasn't pumping up would it make this noise?

If it is only one cylinder it may be a lifter that got some junk in it. If is sounds like an rolling stones song, you may not have any oil going to the top of the motor.
The messy way is to pull a valve cover and start the engine and take a hammer handle try to push each rocker down until you find the problem one.
This is going to make a big mess. It will also tell you how much oil is going to the top of the engine.
I have also had header leaks that sound like lifters..

Is it just one or some or all. Did you make sure that you have the rocker arms on right and that you have the rocker shaft on right. If not you will get no oiling to the top end of the engine. Notches on the end of the rocker shaft down and forward left side and down and to the rear right side. There are also left and right rockers but them reversed normally don't make noise.
If everything is assembled correctly a lot of time the lifters will self bleed the air out just by shutting the engine down after being run a few minutes. Also like said above locating with the engine running and applying pressure to the push rod end of the rocker with a hammer handle will a lot of times bleed the air out so that they will fill and stay filled.

Rockers were in wrong order, that was fixed. one push rod was bent slightly. Could that damage lifter? Wasn't run for more than a minute.

Thanks all it was a collapsed lifter. After shutting the engine off other rockers were tight and hard to move except for one. You could rock it an 1/16 of an inch fore and aft.
