Are they worth it, or is there something better??? Looking for opinions before I put them on my 3/4 ton Ram. My dsl has 171,000 miles on it, and the rear suspension is starting to show its age, and wear from towing all these years, lol. Just looking for some real life experience and opinions... Thanks

I am going to put load bags on my truck since I got a smoking deal on a set. However, I have towed with just an equalizer hitch up until now. My truck is a 1/2 ton 2wd that is lowered 6" in the rear, so towing with out any bags or equalizer hitch isn't really an option. It tows great with the equalizer hitch though!

air bags are the trick deal. i've been useing them for over 20 years on misc. trucks. i have a 2500 hd chevy that i removed 1 main leaf to better the ride quality when not towing. when i hook up the 24' trailer with the car inside i put about 50 psi in the bags to level things out. rides like your on a cloud. when i.m not towing i let them down to 5-10 psi. you cant go wrong.

Air bags are very nice. I was at Indy this past weekend and noticed alot of trucks there using them.

I have installed alot in plow trucks/tool&die flatbeds etc and everybody has really liked them. Put the valve in a simple place and I usually plumb the bags together so they equalize vs keeping each independent, but it can be done either way.

Nope, not with a 35' Gooseneck, or when I use the open trailer.

Thanks guys. I was hoping for some good input, lol. I had one fellow around here tell me they had bad luck with them, but no explanation. Just wondering what everyone else had experienced.
thanks

Why not just put new springs on it instead of a bandaid

I was just getting ready to suggest the same thing.

i run air bags on my truck, but its because I pull a 28' enclosed trailer with my 1/2 ton ram. It really helps me....

The airbags are great. Just like nitrous, there when you need it, just along for the ride when you don't!!

To be honest, I never would have bought a set, but my latest used truck has them already, and after hauling my 2 car tag from AZ to OK with them, I'm hooked!

Airbags also take some of the load off the ends of the leaf springs and give an additional load bearing surface.

Ever see what can happen if a leaf spring breaks at the spring eye? I have.

I have them on my 05 2500 CTD . They are really nice if you tow different weight trailers. They enable me to tow my enclosed 24 ft. car trailer(3500 lbs. empty) and my 32 foot camper(7600 lbs.) and level each one of them for better handling.

I had" add a leaf" helper springs and air shocks on my D150 when I towed with it and it rode hard. I put a set of air bags on my Durango when I had it and they worked great when I towed my enclosed trailer. When I traded the Durango on my Hemi Q.C. I took them out and fabricated new mounting brackets so they would work on the Hemi Q.C. and they do work well.

I tow a 32' tag with a 95 Cummins dually. It's been a tow vehicle forever,at 175,000 the springs are a little tired. I've had Air-Lift bags for about 10 years. No issues at all. Easy to adjust. I only need about 25psi. Make sure the lines are separate for each bag.

If you have a good spring shop in your area they can probably freshen up those springs for a lot less than the cost of air bags. Add a leaf and re-arch makes a lot of difference.

Work great on my lowboy trucks, keeps all the duals on the road, enhances traction considerably! Work lousy on my dump trucks, way to tippy, and then with the box in the air, its downright spooky, even if you deflate them and set the rails down on the frame. make one heck of a bang when they blow. But!!for a tow vehicle, I would not hesitate a minute to use them.

Now I like that idea....Unless I have a pallet of cement in my truck, (98 Ram 2500), it Rides like a truck....
