I was getting tired of chasing a bad carb tune, so instead of re-drilling the glued-up holes in my throttle blades, I put my cheater kit plate on to see how it would run. After changing the pills a few times, I ended up using the smallest jet(.047) and to my delight the thing runs great. The idle is strong, and off idle is crispy/crackly.
Now for my query....
Is there any draw backs. I would like to put some kind of air cleaner on the hose for long term use, but more importantly , would there be a lean out issue at the top end? I wouldn't think so, being its a .047 hole, but am sure open to any experience in this subject. I was thinking maybe even a smaller jet....
Also curious if this would open more doors for intake backfiring at the onset of the green light..

Am I on my own here?

Never done that but couldn't you just run a line off the fitting up into the air cleaner assembly?

Yes, I had thought about running it to the cleaner, but I crank that on and off between rounds to help cool the carb etc, so a separate filter would be more practical. I run quite a few rounds, sometimes 5 or 10 mins between.
My main concern is leanout due to a stupid idea...
