we made it to the semi-finals sat night. Fri and sat were "all run" races (box & no box run seperate untill 4 of each left, then put together for 1 purse). Fri race is Mopar vs. The World, all makes allowed to compete, but Mopars held up our end of the deal with 2 Mopars in the final (W to Ken Patterson, RU to Ashley Strickland). Sat night I was the last "door car" and last "no box" car standing, making it to semi's with 3 dragsters, (brothers Bubba and Travis Varner, 18 year old Dustin Lumpkins and myself) with the W to Bubba Varner and Dustin getting RU after his car quit running at the hit. Also sat, Moparts member Russ O'Neil (da beast) put a fine young racer, Corey Smith, in his car for the first time and was rewarded with a quarter final finnish. Sunday the classes were seperated with Sportsman going to (Moparts member FASTEDDIE) Eddie Weaver. Another Moparts member, Jimmy Snuffer (jimmiesarrow) got semi in Super Pro. Not sure about the other winners and RU's. All in all, a good weekend and we managed to Dodge (pun intended) the rain and had a wonderfully HOT weekend!
Congrats to all, Brian Dunnigan

I never thought watching my car run down the track would be so much fun. Cory did a fantastic job until you took him out in the final eight. I can see Cory driving my car more in the future.
Russ, I told Valerie when I was getting strapped in, "if I go down to Cory, its OK. I love that kid." Cory and his whole family are good people, good friends and life long Mopar racers. Heres a picture for you Russ.

Brian , it was good meeting you , had a great time at bristol, I think this is one of the best mopar races, alot of mopar guys are missing out by not trying this event. I wish they would move it to the end of sept. so a lot of tracks points races would be over and the temperature would be COOLER. Wish I could have seal the deal Sun. but the final four was a good end to the weekend. See you next year. Also , good idea parking in the tunnel.

You liked my at the track "garage"? I can't park the car in the "bed room", so the garage is better than the car cover, hahaha! (at Bristol we park next to one of the two tunnels that go under the track, from pits to the stands) It was good to meet you also Jimmy, just didn't have a lot of time to visit. And someone needs to check Johnny Penningtons tires before he leaves home next year!

Thanks for the mention Brian. This weekend was full of lows and highs, lows being under the impression the car had a rod knocking, to the highs of finding out it was only a torque converter bolt that had backed out and was hitting the block, and then winning Sportsman on Sunday. A real high was getting past Steve Foley (2 time track champ and winner at the World Footbrake Challenge)in the 3rd round by .0024. He actually came around me and was whoomping back into me and let me back around.
But here is the real kicker. I had forgotten to put fuel in the car all day. It ran out of fuel and died on the return road after the final round. Had to borrow fuel to get it on the trailer and go get a winners circle photo.

yea , I was there only to watch. fri and saturday. did not have the car ready. did mopar win on friday night? and I left just before the finals on friday night. then a little early on saturday about 3.45pm Hit a hell storm about 35 miles south of Bristol. And to mention Bristol, its the best facility I've ever been to for the racer.
