Some of the SS/AH cars at Indy are running a 6.20 axle gear!! Run the Wallace Calculator and it's close to 160 mph @10,000 rpm...what would our cars run with a 6.20 gear...nice 60fts?

I put a 6.17 gear in my car last year. It fealt like it left harder but the 60 ft didn't show any benefits. It buzzed pretty hard on the other end.

Wouldn't look for any increase just because you added some gear ratio. It all comes down to wheel speed and how long your converter is in stall.

I would guess it's because of the very narrow powerband of the AH engines, it's to keep them near the peak at all times. Would be interesting to know the first gear ratios for the stick cars. Maybe in the 2.70-80 range?
