So I'm putting my Chally's front end back together. I'm using MOOG K7026 "Improved" Strut Rod bushings on the original Strut Rods. Can't get the first bushing to go all the way onto the rod. The "Improved" bushings have aluminum spool cores which are bored to 0.640 inch straight through. My strut rods bushing mount stubs are also 0.640 inch in diameter, except for the last 3/16 inch or so. Up next to the stub shoulder, the diameter seems to taper up to 0.650 inch or so.

What to do here? Grind down the strut rod stub, bore out the end of the bushing, or put it together and torque like hell and hope it cinches up. I doubt the latter will work as I've attempted to press the bushings on and can't get any movemement with a BFH and a adapter bearing on the aluminum spool core.

Any experience here anyone?

This is a common problem with the strut rod that was never intended to be used with a metal sleeve, turn/sand/grind the strut rod down to fit the sleeve.

Thanks, I was not sure if this was supposed to be a press fit or not.
