I just got my new issue of Mopar Collector's Guide, and there's a big article in it about Mike Ware's new monster motor. 622 cube wedge, nearly 900 HP at 6000 rpm, and 800 ft lb tq at 3,700 rpm (873 peak at 4,500). On pump gas. Wow.

Yeah, it's got a hemi........a REAL hemi.

Yes Fred, I know, I saw that thread. And how much money does Darren have in his motor? Not everyone has yours or Darren's tallent to wrench on a motor to get something out of this world like that, or Jimmy's blower motor. I just think it's pretty neat that Mike has put together a neat combo that seems to work very well.

That would be a heck of a deal for 622 inches. Given what components cost I can't imagine how you would make a profit selling them for that. If he can sell them for that hats off to those guys!

the price of the top end (B1 heads) and the block, crank, rods, pistons. Their is most of the motor's cost worth in parts. And I don't think eagle or K1 make 4.75" cranks....

Apples and oranges. Both are very impressive in different ways and I don't think anyone questions either of those builders ability or reputation, just different engines built for different purposes.

Both motors are very impressive guys, but serve totally different purposes. DTs motor is a purpose built, high compression HEMI, with some pretty exotic parts. Mike's motor, billed as a "crate motor" is much more mainstream. Both make impressive power for their intended purposes.

I hope that deal works out for them, it would be great to see the national dragster filled with mopar crates ads one day, instead of what it is now.

Yeah, I couldn't sell my short block for 15 let alone a whole motor with I'm sure a warranty. Operating costs, advertising, labor ect. Don't know how he's going to do it,, but I think it's wonderful someone (other than Indy) is getting in the game. They've got a great reputation so they should have plenty of customers.

Thanks Darren, all I wanted to do was get the news out there about Mike's new motor. I believe there are a bunch of guys that look up to the ones on the site that have the experience, knowledge, talent, and expertise regarding the mopar brand. Guys like Eddie, Monty, Darren, Bob George, Jimmy, Fred, and many others are the ones lots of us guys look to for help and information. I've had the pleasure of meeting Darren at the pump gas drags, and up at SGMP for the mopar nats, and Eddie also. They both took the time to chat some while they weren't thrashing on their cars, which I thought was very nice. I'm sort of new to the mopar group, and like to talk and learn about the what works and what doesn't. All of us do not have the finances, or resources that others do. We do the best we can with what we have. I saved for a long time, and am proud of what I was able to put together, even though it may not be a beautiful showpiece, or one of the fastest bullets, I saved and put it together by myself, in my driveway. I'm taking my weeks vacation this year, and heading up to the Hemi Reunion, and am really looking forward to seeing all the cars, and people there, and hopefully get to learn more about the sport/hobby that I love.

Yeah, it's got a hemi........a REAL hemi.

Mike has put together an impressive combo. I'm not sure about that price though, it might be a misprint. Earlier in the article is says the crate motor costs $21 per HP which would be $18,900. Then at the end of the article is says $15,995.

I don't know how he can sell that combo for $16K unless he lined up some really good deals on parts. I have a new combo going together with Victor heads, World block, Callies crank, etc and it is going to cost me more than $15,000 just for the parts.
