I've suffered with those crappy auto parts store brake flaring tools long enough. I bought an Eastwood Pro Flaring tool. This tool looks like an absolute joy to use! I can't wait until it gets here!

I finished up the last bit of brake lines this morning, namely, making the two lines connecting to the master, adding the hydraulic brake switch to the front line, and adding the proportioning valve to the rear line.
I have to say, I no longer have to hope and pray when flaring brake lines anymore. This Eastwood Flaring tool is the BOMB-DIGGITY!! It's actually fun to make PERFECT double flares, and so quick and easy, too!! My only regret is that I wish I had bought it sooner.

This morning, I set the pinion angle, and tack welded the perches in place. I was shooting for 2 degrees negative pinion angle, but 2.1 degrees is close enough.

After lunch, I'll tack weld the lower shock mounts to the axle housing, and then I can get it out from under the Jeep and prep it for paint. The plan is to spray one coat of my favorite heavy duty epoxy primer, Dupont Corlar 2.1 ST, and one or two coats of Dupont Imron satin black.

To aid in getting the 14 bolt out, I fabbed up a temporary dolly, so I could maneuver it around, and to facilitate painting of the housing. Since I can't move the Jeep, I'm going to have to spray paint it outside.

Imagine that a simple pinion angle without a political debate. Looking real nice Dave. With the pinion nose up so much will there be a need to adjust the oil level? I would imagine its pretty much up to the ring gear to toss it to the front. So the same fill just a different check point?

Truthfully, I don't know the answer to your question. I'll have to look into it.

I just noticed the fill is on the side of the case. I was thinking rear cover. So fill now to plug hole would raise it higher that if in stock pinion angle. If in fact the ring will supply oil to the front running it a little lower at the hole should work.

The final bullet list is getting short!

1. REAR AXLE:
a: Prime and paint it
b: Install it

2. Fill & bleed power steering/hydroboost system

3. Bench bleed the master cylinder, and bleed the brake lines

Last night, the 14 bolt received one coat of Dupont Corlar 2.1 epoxy primer, and one coat of Dupont Imron 3.5 Satin Black.

Today, I bench bled the master cylinder, and bled the braking system. That leaves just one last item to address, which is filling/bleeding the power steering/hydroboost system. Barring any unforeseen disasters, I will be taking this Jeep for a little test spin around the block next weekend!!!

Pic of the 14 bolt installed.

So, here's where I'm at. Tonight, I'm going to cut 'n buff the doors, install them onto the Jeep, and install the door mirrors. Saturday, I'm going to fill and bleed the power steering/hydroboost system. After that, I will attempt a quick spin around the block.

Thanks, Rick! I have my GoPro mounted to the rollcage, so I'll post a video of that short first test drive.

It's Saturday.

Old, tired, and sometimes broke down. Me, not my car...

It's also pouring outside.
I really wanted to make the test drive on a dry day, so I could see if I'm trailing any fluids, plus I want to have the hood off, so we can see if and when the cooling fan kicks on automatically, or if anything is smoking in the engine compartment, we can spot it immediately.
