Good product, the guy that owns the company is on the Jeep forum, he is a real piece of work. I have never bought from him or had a run in but just reading his post will ensure that I never use it. Real shame it's good stuff, my brother uses a lot of the chassis saver and it's holds up really well. Sorry.
I cant wait to see it on the tub.

Why is everyone so sold on the Bilsteins? I am at the point with the axle swap where I have to get new ones and I would be curious how you came to your decision on brand and then of course model. I don't really have an opinion or knowledge on the subject.

There's no denying it, Bilstein has a great reputation for building high quality, high performance shocks. Read this, and you'll see why people choose Bilsteins. http://www.eshocks.com/bil_ORin.asp?Manf=All>
I've decided to go with 5165's in the front, and 5125's for the rear. I figure with the all iron V8 up front, the front shocks will get more of a workout, so I opted for the 5165 reservoir shocks. The rear won't see as much weight, (and to save a little money) I went with the 5125's. Since I need longer than stock length shocks, both were a good choice, since they come in custom lengths.

Just great. The Bilstein 5165's that I want are on manufacturer's back order for 4 to 6 weeks, and you know how those estimates can be revised....longer!

I called allshocks.com, eshocks.com, shockwarehouse.com, 4wd.com, offroadwarehouse.com, and polyperformance.com. Nobody has them in stock. But, thanks for looking!

On shockwarehouse.com, I found a spreadsheet of a huge list of Bilstein part numbers that are currently on backorder, and its incomplete at that, because the shock I want isn't on that list. Makes me wonder what in hell is going on at Bilstein. From what allshocks.com hinted in an email, it sounds like supply chain problems. I would consider Fox reservoir shocks for the front, but I don't want spherical rod ends, I want the stock type rubber bushings like the 5165 has. Anyway, I've put in an order for the 5165's, so I'll get my front shocks one of these months (I hope). In the meantime, I placed an order for the Bilstein 5125's for the rear, a Northern aluminum crossflow radiator that is custom fit for a CJ, and an Chevy HHR fan/shroud assembly from rockauto.com.

The Northern rad came in today. After having to fabricate so many brackets and stuff on the Duster, its refreshing to be able to buy something and just bolt it on. Originally, I was going to go with an HHR fan assembly from rockauto.com, but after much reading on the 'net, I decided to go with a new 1995 Ford Thunderbird electric fan assembly from rockauto. It was only about $12 more than the HHR fan, and it has a two speed fan motor, as opposed to the HHR's single speed motor. It will be thermostatically controlled by a DCC controller. The T-Bird fan is basically the same as the vaunted Lincoln Mark 8 fan, which is claimed to be slightly weaker than a Category 4 hurricane. The fan is a monster 18" in diameter, and since the fin area of the rad is 18-1/8" X 19-1/4", it is absolutely the biggest fan I could possibly fit. To prevent rust from forming, and to stop rust that may be present, I coated the hard to reach insides of the hood structures with Eastwood Internal Frame Coating. I then sprayed two coats of epoxy primer on the hood, followed by 3 coats of high build primer. I should be receiving the completed engine by the end of this month. Once its back at DusterDave HQ, progress on other parts and subsystems of the Jeep will really start to move along.
