I have a 2001 Durango SLT Plus with body control module part number 56045453AC and the left head light started to blink at random. I talked with a friend of mine that is a mechanic and he said the body control module was defective. He replaced the body control module with a used one of unknown part number and I have some issues. The windshield wipers don't work when the vehicle is stopped with the brakes applied, the security alarm system doesn't work and I can't deactivate the automatic door lock system. Doses this sound like a reprogramming issue with the body control module or do I need to replace the module with a known correct one and have it reprogrammed with my VIN? My local dealer stated that once the body control module was programmed with a different vehicle's VIN it could not be used on my vehicle. I suspect the used BCM was from a Durango that had less options and that is why all of my systems don't work. Need opinion as to wether this is true or do I need to replace the BCM with a new one.

Thanks,

Mike

I had the same problem with mine.Except mine went "haywire" everything started acting up like the vehicle was possesed. You have to get bcm reprogrammed to match all the other electronics. The BCM controls all ur flashing components and some others too.Even after having it reprogramed,6 months later the driver side door lock and the rest of the locks started acting up. Now my wife just keeps door lock button locked on the driver door and doesnt use it.And the remote will not open the driver door either. Its some crazy stuff. Good Luck

The original part number was 56045453AC however I don't know the part number of the used part that was installed by my mechanic friend. He only stated it was not the smae number but the palace he purchased it from assured him it would work. I will remove the left kick panel this weekend to get the part number. My friend did not reprogarm the BCM only the key fobs.

The original part number of the BCM is 56045453AG and the incorrect replacement BCM part number is 56049072AG. I should also note that the orinal BCM had a large "DN" stamped under the part number which is the designation for a Durango. The replacement unit had an "AN" stamped under the part number and this is the designation for a Dakota. Any comment would be appreciated.
