Appreciate anyone's hard-earned tips on how to correctly position the white plastic covers/boxes over the front outboard seat belt retractors, and then glue them to the underside of the carpet.
Also, although the manual shows the seat belt retractors being installed pointing straight up, I can't help but think they need to point maybe 30 degrees forward or so.
And when do you cut the slit in the carpet? After the boxes have been glued and dry?

C'mon now folks... everyone who's restored an e-body correctly must have done this... share your secrets to measuring twice and cutting once!

Hmmm... no outpouring of hints... suggesting perhaps no one really knows how it was originally done? Maybe we've identified a new area for the OEM Gold / concourse judges to be checking...

The units should face forward about 22.5 degrees (you want that OEM gold certificate... right? )... 30 degrees you might slide by?... in my T/A, I glued the carpet down on them, at the same time I istalled the outer plastic strap guide,.. I think trying to locate them, then glue, then return them back into position you might have problems... think how many seconds the original assy line worker had to install them?
Thanks Mike. The last part makes a lot of sense.

Thanks Snoopy, Barry and beepbeep also. I managed to snag the drawing before the Moparts police swooped in to protect the world from evil.
That drawing is the exact same artwork as that found in the Service Manual though. Has more accompanying text though, which should prove helpful.
See how the drawing shows it being installed pointing straight up? With the belt then routed through the actual seat side panel, what happens when the seat is adjusted all the way forward or back? The belt is then not pulling in a straight position as it was engineered to do. Or am I completely missing something here?
