if i had a set of those brian B1 heads they would go in the bed with me at night right between me and the ol' lady! lol
You'd rather mount your heads on the engine
A guy emailed me from Mo. last night. He bought a car off me lat year. He said he had a set of B1 originals ready to bolt on for 2100 bucks

X3...does that car run like it has 900hp? Can we see the dyno on that?. That is a lot for a set of BS heads.

As I have said in the past if you cannot make 800hp with a decent set of B1's your doing it wrong. My 67 Valaint was a basic 511 low deck with a good set of B1's that went 9.0's at 150 weiging 3470lbs. My current MC motor seems to run ok
i would say you are right there, my 499 -1 setup figures out to about 750hp 5.0x at 1854lbs

For the non believers on the B1-BS heads: First the heads have been worked big time by EPD (Larry Olson). A max Wedge port (kind of) with a 2.250" intake and a 1.800" exhaust, 60cc chamber. Injected on Alky, tunnel ram, 2-2 1/8" Injectorators. Final compression is 15.3:1 498CID When I find the dyno sheet I will scan it and post it. I was just trying to get the fuel curve close so I didn't push every last drop out of the motor on the dyno. I know one pull it made 867hp @ 6500rpm, the motor is supposed to go 7500rpm easy and there was no drop on the HP curve @ 6500.

Biginch,
What made you go with the BS heads for that combo. The BS head is a good little head, but takes a lot of work to get their full potential, which can be much easier obtained with other heads. My last BS heads went on a boat out in california. A great velocity head. How much camshaft? Look forward to seeing how they run in your combo.

I will continue the post high-jack. More questions for BigInch... First I don't doubt anymore that power from a MAX effort deal such as yours. But,I'm curious too why you choose that head for 750+HP because as Comp pointed-out there are other options? Are you sure EPD used 2.25" valves because every BS head I've seen had too small an insert to accomodate that size valve $$$. I'm not sure you meant your first post to read the way I read it but, it reads (to me)as-if it was as easy as pie (cheap too) to slam that piece together. Hope you didn't use the supplied BS rocker$. My point is that if you throw enough money (time/resources) at any head you'll make power.

Why the B1-BS, because I had the heads. I agree a B1 would have been a better choise but I'm sick. I do have another engine for the car and it will be a bad ombray. I have T&D rockers that are pushrod oiled (bushed lifter bores). The other reason was Indy said you can't make a B1-BS head run with a Indy -1 (WRONG!) I like it when people say (you can't do that). Like I said the heads have been worked on alot and I'm either stupid and sick or dertermined and broke either way I did enjoy seeing the motor make real good power. I have a 596 predator motor for the next project and then the car will go to A/Gas (7.60) Anyway I love seeing B1 builds that is why I looked at this post in the first place. Sorry for a slight hijack. Keep up the good work.
