Probally but every motor and converter may not be the same, my T/A 8 inch drops down to 5700 RPM if I shift it at 6000 up to 7000 RPM, if I shift it above 7000 RPM if will drop down to 5800, to 6000 RPM depending on from first or second. I run the Mopar brand 2.77 low 1st gear set so the RPM drop is more than with a stock standard 2.45 low gear set I have always operated on the theory that you have to go to the tarck and find out where to shift each combination by testing it IHTHs

Define "Ideal"??
We used to have a loose 8" that would stall 52-5400 behind the typical junkyard 284-484 440. You know, the kind of motor that was all done at 5800! 400-600 rpm is definitely not ideal, but it sure was fun!! It would usually be a tenth quicker, and 2 mph slower than the common 10" 3600.

If it's strictly a race car, especially a heavy one, how well the converter and torque curve match, may determine a lower shift point rather than raising the stall. 10% above peak torque rpm used to be the rule of thumb for stall setting, but I think modern agressive converters can be a little closer to peak, and deliver the best performance.

Ideal I use 1500 rpm... I dont know if its
the best but that works for my set up so I dont spend
to much time at the stall point on the shifts

I would be thrilled with 1500 rpm, cant seem to get anyone to get one that loose. Gonna have Figueroa cut one open and give it a try. The last two stall at 6400 and 6200 respectively and running all out I shift at 8200 With a glide in the car it is killing the ET all out.

Mines a little low right now with the W-9 but worked
fine with the W-2... its 5600 stall and I shift at 7800
and hit the traps at 8100-8200 on the W-9

Mine flashes to 4600 and the shift light comes on at 5800.

That's what I've been told repeatedly from many sources.
But I am not doing it since my truck is street driven.

Using a 3800 stall in my truck and a 6200 rpm shift point.
I doubt it will really suffer any. Or should I say I wont be missing anything.
