I finally got all the little pieces for my valvetrain on my Hemi that were on intergalactic backorder. Anyway I'm done installing the spring/retainer/keepers. I've got to clearance some of the rockers as they touch or hit the retainers. How much clearance is needed, the motor will see more street action than strip. With 720 lbs. over the nose I'd like to keep any grinding on my stock rockers to a minimum. Thanks. Dave

I added the shallow lash caps on my hemi Dave..
They gave them plenty of room.. .030+ easy.

Bob; I've got lash caps installed already. I needed 2" installed height, I'm using +.100 Howards Cams retainers, and a mismash of standard and + .050 keepers, and shims to get me 2.000" + or - .005. My rockers were rebuilt by FHO, a few of them have interference problems with the retainers. Nothing terrible, worst one maybe .010-.020 off the lashcap, most just touching. Dave

I also used +.050 keepers. These springs are Pacaloy 1.625 and they were setup in the 1.95 range or so. IIRC they where about 325-350 seat and about 775 lbs open at .775 lift.
How did you end up with your valve to valve clearance? Mine was tight, real tight.. I almost pulled the back apart and grind on the margins down to sink them a tad.

K-Motion 950 springs, 245/720. I had Bob George spec out the package for me. .722/.698, 285/290@ .050 on 110 installed at 106. My valve to valve clearance is .045. I've heard worse though.
As with my original build, I've spent more time and pulled more hair out on the valve train than anything else.
I'm still waiting for some pushrod tools from Comp Cams. I got them done without them but wanted to have the stuff on hand for the next time. I've also the proud owner of 5 different sets of retainers,( I had a couple of them already). I learned the hard way that there is no industry standard on retainer installed height. For instance, Comp Cams standard height retainers are the same as Manleys +.050. Dave
