Un, a move right to 440-1s will get you these flow numbers or better if you get the SR without the dogleg, or the 440-1s,either with a 2.25 intake. I have heard that the SRs may have a little more short side to work with, so they might even outdo the 440-1s if ordered without the pushrod problem. My 440-1s; int .100 74 - 76 ex 50 - 58 int .200 149 - 154 ex 104 - 117 int .300 210 - 223 ex 145 - 170 int .400 263 - 278 ex 180 - 209 int .500 301 - 328 ex 210 - 245 int .600 311 - 363 ex 237 - 270 int .700 313 - 368 ex 250 - 287 int .800 306 - 378 ex 257 - 301
First set of numbers is before with 2.19 intake, second after porting ,2.25 intake. The biggest shortblock you can build is the way to go, and in my estimation that is a set of wiseco 4.375 pistons with 1.300 compression hieght, with a 4.25 crank from ohio or eagle. 6.635 rods, all in a 400 block, and don't forget to figure in the 9cc for valve reliefs (yep, 9cc) for a big roller of up to 284@ .050 if you ever choose to go that big. This motor should be capable of running 10.00 to high 9s if you build it with a roller, even staying under 7000 rpm and having a somewhat streetable converter in it. The power i estimate is about 725 hp, probably at about 6600 to 6800 rpm.
I was kind of wondering the same thing, especially after talking with 572Charger on the way back from the PGD's. I think the -1's is the way I am going to go this winter.

These are my SR's:
Opening Intake Exhaust .200 158.7 120.1 .300 220.8 170.5 .400 271.3 203.2 .500 301.4 225.7 .600 326.0 247.6 .700 345.4 262.3 .800 354.9 269.0
First run spinning the tires and heading for the wall went 9.88 @ 136.54 mph in my 3525 Coronet. 12.5:1 compression with Comp Cams .650 lift flat tappet cam.
After reading what you wrote, I hope I Screwed up my combo enough to slow me down a little, I havent been down the 1/4 in 24yrs. My last pass was 14.48. My current motor is a 511, full race ported SR's, 13.75cr with a .705 roller in a 65 Belvedere I think I need to buy a box of Depends
65 thanks for the good laugh. Just the OMG what have I done to myself attitude that you wrote it in cracked me up. You might want to double bag yourself for that first run.

I bet seeing those cars in Memphis was also a factor Of course just seeing Jims car all the time can't help! I know myself, after seeing Jims car on the dyno, I had to build the best I could right now... anything else would just be slow, still will be compared to his car, but I'm trying! Got to start somewhere.
I'm sure I'll be joining ya with some -1s down the road... but I'll admit to it now

After following this post and others, it would seem that you are deffinately one of us "adrenallin junkies", so that would say plan for "more power!!!!!" in the future. We never get enough!! The SRs will make good power, and get you there, but will hit a wall(power wise) at a certain point. Will it be enough? Maybe for a year or so? Then what? Are you the type that will want to go to the next level in the future, and then look back and say "I wished i had,,,,,,," For me, i am kicking myself for having sold that 4.5 billet crank and having stayed with the 440-1s!!!!!!!!!!! With the $$ i spent, i could be within $3000 of a 1050 hp 572! If i ever bail on the racing, this motor (the 528)will turn into something bigger,(588?) with less compression and the same heads, for a streetable 700 to 750 hp!
