I'm looking for your opinions on a carb issue. I purchased a new carb from Chuck N. a Dom 1050, my car isn't finished yet.And probobly won't be for another month. There's a (friend of a friend), who asked if he could try it. Now I may sound petty, but I didn't spend $1300 on a carb for some1 else to try out 1st.I know how I feel, I'm just wondering how you guys feel about lettin some1 else test your parts before you do. Thanks

I understand your logic on this issue and can respect your decision. Personally I would have no problem with loaning it. In fact I did just that about a month ago. Jim

if the dude has a well sorted combo, throwing your carb on it at the track can really fill you in on how well it performs out of the box

There are different ways to look @ this,I know. Not real sure about his combo, I do know the track has quite a bit of elevation. Compared to where I live.

You bought it to fit your engine... is he going to
start making changes.... I dont mind loaning out stuff
but I would like it back the same way it went out...
I have multiple brothers and 2 of them will tear my
stuff up and just give it back without saying a word...
if they want to borrow stuff now days I tell them.......
nope... its STILL broke from the last time you used it

Amazing how some paople aint short on balls when it comes to borrowing other peoples stuff. Someone on this sight borrowed a pushrod checker from me a while back ( I felt sorrow for him cause he said he was so short on $ ). Stupid me. Never heard of him or saw my tool again. At my age you would think I know better.

Right, Chuck N. built this for my combo. I'm sure they will make changes. How I would get it back? me lending it out, not helping me out @ all. A close friend, family, different story.

I'm sure you've heard this before; if not, it may be food for thought...
what's the difference between a friend and somebody who claims to be a friend? TRUST...plain and simple. If you can trust that person (and yourself), go with it; if not, don't whine and carry on if something happens to your stuff as that is ALL it is...just STUFF! Search yourself and not others. A wise man once told me..."the best advise is to give none and take none!"

If it`s a friend i will let him use any thing i got if it`s new or old he can use it and if it`s a real good firend and i don`t need it he can have it.And if i am at the track and some one needs a part i got he can use it but that just me.

tell him you just bolted it down to your intake and torqued it, if you were to take it off you would have to replace the gasket... and it does not make sense for you to have to spend money for someone else to use your parts! LOL
but seriously if the friend of a friend is that interested in the carb, he can pony up the money and get himself one.
You didn't spend 1300 for someone else to have great carb, right?
If you did, then don't get stingy now, i want one too!

Loan it to him! Just make sure you get a $1500.00 deposit like the rental stores do.

I have lent freinds, not freinds of freinds, complete dnyo tested motor that I changed some parts on and I was willing to let them use and test it in thier race car. I have used other peoples race cars to test some of my parts on them with the condition I put them on at the track and I removed them the same day, they couldn't and didn't touch the part Other people that I trusted I lent them the parts and they provided me good feed back on them It depends on you and them I guess I wouldn't loan a person I don't know a new carb. Some people can screw up a steel 2500 lb. wrecking ball in a sand box with a feather

I put my carb on a friend's 406 sbc while my 408 was going together.
I thought it was a nice opportunity to see how it worked and it turns out it was WAY better than his carb. He didnt want to give it back. Nice to see how it worked on a very similar engine to mine.

My main point, I guess is who's car it would be going on. A good friend, no hesitation. These circumstances, I'm not on board @ all.

I can understand you point... for one thing your buddy/friend
has some balls to ask if he can basically loan it out
