Anyone had any experience with these? Are they a lot quieter than open headers and is there power loss. Have currently 2 1/8" headers 3 1/2 collector with 12" extension on 511 RB. Need to get noise down to 120db

Have you got room to fit the bullet mufflers?

Cliff, i run dynomax mufflers on mine, dont know about the db rating but they are a lot quieter than the flow masters i took off. The car picks up about 1.5-2 tenths with the headers open and 18" collectors.
Somebody on here posted a list of mufflers and their noise rating a while back.

Got enough room for Bullets but was thinking collector mufflers could save some weight

I have 3" pipes and mufflers that finish in front of the rear axle, they both weigh around 50#.
Isn't your new car lighter than the old one?.

I bought a pair in 1999 when NHRA said all cars had to have mufflers. They slowed my 12.5-1 446 with iron heads about .8 seconds in the 1/4. I think they said they were checking db's at the Indy points meet in 2000, they never released any findings, except to say the maximum allowable would be 105 db. The Stock and Super Stock guys ignored the rule, and it was never enforced after that. I ran the Pontiac Nats in 2000 wide open, no one said anything.

The extra 40lb or so makes little difference on mine Are you coming out to race at MSA events?
I have seen debris fly through the collector when motors let go, so I thought it may be safer to have a pipe just after or before the rear axle.

I dont think you will go slower in that car even with mufflers.
