My speedo has a steady rhythm of "tap", "tap", tap".
with a slight jump in the needle with each tap.
I can't ignore it any more by turning up the radio.
Multi-part question:
Speedo or cable (please say cable ).
If speedo, please refer me to a good guy to send it to.
Thanks.

Have you tried lubing the cable? Mopar sells a product called Mopar Speedo Lube. I'm sure there's something cheaper and easier to get that works just as well.

It can be a messy job but should work like a charm.

Dumb me. Should have done that regardless. I'll give it a shot tomorrow.

it could also be the end of the cable that fits into the speedo has rounded. sometimes there is enough material on the squared end to be able to cut it off and re-insert it.

I thought that condition causes the needle to swing wildly like a crazed banshee...

i think that's caused by massive amounts of alcohol/weed/crank/all of the above!
it's mostly likely just in need of some lube. but just check the cable and the speedo slot for rounding that is if you can maneuver under there and still keep it far enough away to see! i would be very hard pressed to do it!

I've taken these dashboards apart before. I know for a fact you can not get your hand up there without pulling 3/4's of the dash and all the ducts.
