i could be wrong but to me that video looked like the clutch was slipping...not the tires.. in slow motion the rear tire was compressed and wrinkled the whole 80ft..of the launch... cheapst

I spoke to Advanced clutches today and It was explained to me I have to launch this clutch no less than 5000 rpm, not just off idle like I did, so ya very poss it was slipping. I showed him the video and he said Ooooooh man you can't do that, you got to rev that baby 5800 rpm then drop the clutch and don't let up on the throttle until your done. Sounds just like some other good advice from this thread.

Well you can try to launch that high but I think you'll find that unless you have a very good track prep you'll be spinning and not even moving. There's allot of factors to get a good launch , proper rpm, tire pressure, condition of the tire's, shocks, [ front and back ] , springs and proper track prep. Is the air port concrete where you race?? and do they do any prep?

I should probably clear one thing up. When I said first time to the track I meant this year with this set up , all new drive line eng suspension ect, I have been racing this car on and off since I was a kid 1979 mostly in the last 5 years. I have been posting my build for the last two years on here. So ya I no what you mean about launches and prep. but this is all new to me with this much power and new suspension. the thing is you can't launch this clutch under 5000 rpm or it will slip, I can ad base press for lower rpm launches but I think I need to see how it is going to react on this much better track then the last. yes they do do a pretty good job prepping the track but no concrete. this weekend will be a test and tune for me. thanks Steve B

Radial tires or Bias Ply? At that track and if the prep isn't spot on,....I would not run the Radials. Once they spin, they don't like to recover quickly with a stick.
Bias, MT 29.5x 13.5 I am going to start @ 11 lbs

Steve, Be sure to follow Rob's advice, he's the best in the business! He knows clutches and sticks and how to make them work. Not only does he pilot a record holding superstock 4spd race car,but his products are also found in many record holders!
Nice Ride!

Nice car! There's quite a dip in that track right when you hit 4th gear.
