My dad called with the news that our lil block engine is once again injesting water. On the first build it did it after 50 passes and we tore it down only to find that most of the Comp Cam roller lifter bodies had cracked. After having the heads checked and one repaired, back together it went along with a set of lifters from Brian (IMM engines). That was fathers day weekend in 2010. Now a little over year later the engine is going to be pulled and tore down again. Doesn't sound like there is any water in the crankcase, so I suspect a head issue again. Wish I wasn't 1300 miles away so I could get over there and give him a hand. We're going to fix it and run it again. It's just too fun of a combo not to!

Going into the cylinders. Guess the plugs were pulled and water came out of a few holes. It was reported that some water was in the oil, but very little, didn't sound like it was "milkshaked". Hoping from just sitting a week from the previous event he ran.

Sounds like a head gasket. Tell us more about this cool combo. Must be a screamer.

With it in the cyl it will still make its way into
the crank case.... it'll get past the rings....
good luck on finding the problem... if you take a
compression test and it shows good... put a can of
Stop Leak in it

Cometic head gaskets, and yes, the decks were prepared for thier use. The oil looking good tells me the cylinder walls are most likely in tact. We are using a filled stock block so that is always a concern. The car has gone 9.78 at 138, but with a softer converter and lower shift point it's been running in the low 10's 134 range pretty consistantly. It also runs an exhaust system. We've been down the "ceramic seal" road already. Just hope that something is found. I had that issue with my RB once... tore it down, had the heads and block checked, all ok. Put it back together with new gaskets, was ok for awile and then water in #3 again. Did the ceramic seal treatment and have never had an issue again. Most frustrating part is he lives in SoDak, and I'm in AZ. Would love to be there to help.

I'm sure Brad and Dale will have you covered. Dale was telling me about it the other day. Was this the first weekend out for Fred?

I have nothing to add, other than, it must be a cool thing, to have your Dad racing. Hope it's something simple.

That was his second or third outing. I was up there at the end of June and Oahe was only running their second race due to that incredibly long winter you had. The new converter and car set up is working great. Car was deadly consistant all weekend and I went three rounds each day. Only driver error kept the car from the finals.

Thanks Leigh.... we do have fun running the cars.

....and the "corner" on the shutdown is farther down there than you think. People have gone 220mph+ without a prob. After a couple passes you forget it's there.
