I have a 2004 SRT Reg Cab manual trans. Anyway, it seems to give a check engine code after about five or ten miles of driving. If I check the code by turning the key on and off three times it usualy says; P0305 for misfire on #5. I changed all the plugs and it still does this on a regular basis. I have also added a 170 degree t-stat, and a drop in K&N air filter, other than this it is stock. It was doing this before these additions as well. Today I checked the code and it says; P0305 for : TP (throttle position?) sensor voltage does not agree with MAP. The truck shakes pretty good in sixth gear unless you are over 75/80 mph. Any ideas, or do I need to drag it to the local dealer? I am in Salisbury, MD if anyone can recommend a good shop or dealer... Thanks!

The 170 stat is too low and you may not be getting hot enough fast enough for the computer to adapt the fuel supply ect.

I just cleaned the throttle body with carb cleaner and ran the truck long and hard, with no codes! Seems too easy but I guess time will tell if it is really fixed! The SRT10 board recommends the 170 stat with little issue if you are going to add a computer custom tune which I intend to next. I really just wanted to clear up these codes before the tune.

Replace the TPS, its cheap and it took me about 20 minutes. Go ahead and rule that out.

Yeah, I think I will replace the TP sensor as the idle still seems to be a little high sometimes even thought the codes are gone...

Coil on #5 plug, swap it with coil on #6 and see if the misfire follows

Could be a plug wire, V10 doesn't have coil on plug. They have 2 coil packs under the intake manifold. A TPS or a 170 stat wouldn't cause 1 cylinder to misfire. Weak plug wire crossfire to engine or dirty injector.

I've got 55k on my 04 srt 10. It seems to help to run a can of sea foam thru it every 5k or so. The automatic car wash killed my tps, or at least the problem with my idle came up after a trip there. I don't think its causing your problem, but i've been running a 170 thermostat for 4 years, thats not causing your problem either. I go out and run the snot out of my truck every once in a while and it always runs better afterwards. This isn't grandma's buick your driving you know.

I put about 30 miles on it and the misfire code seems to be gone but I still have the TPS code and the idle does seem to be too high sometimes. I stopped at NAPA and picked up a TPS and installed it, I'll drive the truck tomorrow and see if this clears it up. Thanks for the help, and just for the record my Grandmother is not real happy about the reference to her Buick...
