Anybody have any production numbers on the 68 Monaco station wagons. I have one at my shop, fifth digit of the vin is H!! 383 high performance in a c body wagon. I figure it's fairly rare, but don't have any numbers on it. It has the high flow manifolds, four barrel, factory hitch. I haven't spent much time checking it out, but is complete, pretty decent Texas car with no rust, nice body.. Trying to decide what to do with it. Bought it when the owner said he was taking it to the scrapper..I just couldn't let that happen!! Let's here from the Moparts book of family knowledge....Thx.

No engine breakdown, but:
6 passenger 3,572
9 passenger 4,329

I wouldn't mind another wagon. I like my Power Wagon, but the old Polara wagon I had was much more comfortable.

The car is hard loaded too. Factory a/c, power seat, power windows, power locks...with the h code engine, can't be very many made I don't think.

If you were closer I'd think about offering a trade. What color is it?

The Monaco was the top of the line for Dodge in '68. I wouldn't consider finding a well optioned station wagon odd, unique, or rare.

Maybe "rare" in the fact that it still exists & hasn't become a donor for a clone.

383 2bbl was STANDARD - on the OPTION list in addition to the 383 4bbl was a 440 4bbl.

The 383 4bbl is the same as every other '68 c-body 383 4bbl - non-HP 330 hp.

& no such thing as a MOPAR factory installed trailer hitch!

Sounds cool - what color combo, how's the woodgrain & where are the pics.

It's tan, with darker tan interior. No woodgrain, but it does have the moldings to indicate that it might have had woodgrain. It does have two fender tags, one says SPECIAL ORDER. All the glass is good, has a roof rack and rear air deflector. I'll try to post pics later.

Sounds like a Town and Country I almost bought and kicked myself for later. Those old wagons are no heavier than a mid-size SUV and you're right, there aren't that many left, most either have been crushed or demo derbied.

What was the shop's diagnosis that he decided to throw in the towel on it?

I bought a 1969 C body wagon years ago. Flawlessly mint one owner, it had the hipo 383, hi flow manifolds, and strangely- though I have no idea if it was "stock" or "correct", it had a gas cap that said "premium fuel only", or something to that effect.

That was back in the "good ole days", and LIKE A DUMMY, I used the car as a donor. It was only ONE HUNDRED BUCKS from the original owner!

Does it have a dual snorkel air cleaner? If so, could you post some pictures of it?

the guy that had it lost his job, suffering some pretty bad financial woes. He wanted us to get it running, driving. The cylinder head on the left side is off, has been for some time. It was brought to us like it sits. We have not diagnosed anything, it's been sitting a long time, but not rusty, no body damage. It has the dual snorkle air cleaner. Don't really know what I'm gonna do with it, just didn't want to see it salvaged, it's waaaayyy to nice for that. I thought about spending a little $$ and get it running again, but we're really busy right now with customer's cars. I'll try to take some pics, post soon.
