Hello to all.
I am in need of some help decoding three digits of this fender tag that belongs to this car I am about to restore for myself.
I have some questions also for you with more knowledge than I on build date also...
I will include a picture of the tag and the penicl rubbing of it and the numbers we wrote out to decode.
Hopefully this will help.

The code in question is on the second line from the bottom, left hand side of the build date.
It clearly is stamped "5X8"...
What is this code for/mean ?

secondly, The build date code is three digits that clearly is stamped "C02"..
What date does this translate to be for???
All the other codes I know what they are for, But cant find these in my little book ( it is old)
My other cars have numbers and no letters for the build date . For instance, My blue demon has 314 or "March 14th".
So I am confused and need more info what does the "C02" date mean.
I double checked by reading the tag from underneath ( ie backwards) to double check before I asked for help here....
It is a original demon 340 4 speed that has been what looks to be repainted twice, So I am taking it to get media blasted next week after it gets dissasembled.
Have already planned on replacing the trunk floor and drops and the lower quarters and the front floors, the rest seems to be really solid !
The fender tag is weak at the edges and so I am going to get a new one made.
If any of you have information about these codes , please contact me here or by phone, Or in person.
I hope the picture comes up good here as it does on my screen. If not the numbers are as follows.
V6X V8X EN1
J54 M21 M43 N41 N42 R35
V1X U B51 C55 G33 J25
GK6 M6X9 5X8 C02 101240
E55 D21 LM29 H1B 232721

Thankyou.

5X8 is the upper door frame color. I believe it is semi flat black. Duster 340's with the V24 hood blackout came with the same 5X8 upper door frame color. TX9 is gloss black.

The SPD of C02 is Dec 2nd 1970. They went to letters on the 2 digit months starting with Oct (A), Nov (B), Dec (C)

My 71 Duster 340 has an A14 SPD, (OCT 14 1970).

Neat Demon BTW!!

Thankyou very much!
I appreciate your time to help me.
Is your screen name related to an aircraft "N" number?
It caught my attention and had to ask, being that I am a pilot/owner myself...
Again thankyou...

No problem, always glad to help out a fellow A body owner.

No the NV is for Nevada, as I used to have a B7 Blue 69 Road Runner. Once I found out I couldn't afford to find and restore a B-17 when I was 13, my pilot dreams turned to cars. Although I love to fly any chance I get.

My 71 Duster has V24 not 21 on the tag and 5X8 also which as stated is almost flat black and almost a hint of charcoal grey.

You're right, sorry about that I fixed it, V24 is correct.

On the '71 340 Duster - both the V21 (hood blackout) & V24 (hood blackout w/"340") OPTIONS recieved the 5X8 Upper Door Frame (UDF) paint.

On the '71 340 Demon - when the OPTIONAL J54 (sport hood) was ordered, the twin scoops and most of the hood were painted black ("ORGANISOL"?) & the UDF was 5X8.
