I have a Hemi block that I bought back around 1990. It was an unused, still unpainted NOS block that had the casting date ground off (no idea why). At the time it didn't matter to me, was new and the repros weren't available yet. I used it briefly and it has been stored since. Now I'm cleaning it up and on the pan rail at the back is stamped 1-28-70 2. Is it normal for a block that was not assembled for an assembly line car to have a date stamped on it or was this not a factory stamping? The raised pad in front is only stamped WT and the pad on the side is blank.
