I've looked into TTI's and Doug's and I know they will fit great and not drag the ground but also looking for other brands as well that aren't as expensive.

I have Hedman Hedders now and the driver's side hit very easily when going across curbs, but the problem is they actually hit very easily. Sometimes they will even hit on the open road if there is a big enough bump or wave in the surface. I think this is because the driver's side is designed that the lowest part of the header fits around the steering arm???

Anyone else have this problem, specifically on an A or B-body? And have replaced their headers with another brand that works well besides the TTI's, and Doug's, etc????

I think heddman's are the worse on b and e bodies for ground clearance. the last customer i installed some cheapy summit headers and gained about 1.5 inches.

On the 68 coronet,I had my muffler guy weld strips of 3/8ths steel on them (heated and formed to go up the tubes slightly) to make a skid plate of sorts. The best fitting headers were some(old) doug thorleys that are on my BB in the charger,D

I have Flow Tech headers by Holley on my Charger with a 318.
Never hit anything yet, the clearance is 6".

I have some summit headers on my 68 charger, 408 stroker and they clear ok. But my car is at stock ride height.

Mine is later than yours, but I saved for the TTIs for my 360 and couldn't be happier. Never scrapes, went right on, starter comes on and off without touching a thing, fat flanges, no leaks.... Worth saving the month or three that I had to because now it's done.

For what it's worth I installed the cheapy Summit headers on my A body smallblock and have decent clearance. I have not scraped anywhere. I purposely drove over some rather large speed bumps in a parking lot a couple of weeks ago just to see if they would scrape, and they didn't. I have never measured the clearance but it looks to be around 7 inches or so.

Thanks for the info everyone. I could have weak shocks or something, but something else I do know is that my overall tire height is 25.6"
Isn't the average stock height of a car usually sitting on 28" tires???? If I go with the right height tires (around 28"), then that will give me an extra 1.25" off the ground wouldn't it?

If you want I could measure grd to fender lip and then grd to lowest part of header. I have 26" tires on my Charger but they may be less with the weight of it over them.

Hey if you have time, that'd be great. I will get measurements on mine too. May take me an extra day or so to post back the results but thanks for the help :

We had the cheap Sumits on the 66 Charger. It had 14s on the frt.Never had clearance problems. If a B body sits that low with 26 inch tall tires the Tbars have to be wound way down.Rocky

Well, here are the measurements for Summit headers on a 68 charger. Fender lips are at 25.75" from the grd. Headers on both sides have 4 and 5/8 clearance from the ground. Also have new motor mounts if that makes a difference. Headers work with power steering and column shift plus a small mini starter fits on without pulling headers off. You must remove center link when installing the headers as the center link goes through the drivers side. I used Mr. Gasket Ultra seal gaskets for sealing. No leaks going on 1000 miles now. I sandblasted and painted with
Duplicolor high temp black paint and they are still perfect.

I can take some pics if you want.
