I have just put on a new Edelbrock carb on a 72 Dodge Dart with a 318 & 904, The car gives a small jerk when slowing down for a stop sine or to tune off. At slow speeds 35 & 40 the exhaust system seems to be louder then befour...& I can not get the KICKDOWN to kick in! What do I need to get the THROTTLE CABLE & KICKDOWN back right???

I do have the 1 peace Edelbrock Throttle Lever for Chrysler not put on, because I do not see how it all hooks up!

The pic is of how I got it set up for now!

Would like to see some pics of how you guys have yous set up!

Yes you need the adapter linkage on it..
There should be directions with pics in it..
Be carefull with that airfilter, they are great for catching on fire and they sift the dust into the carb....

I am truckless..

Install the adapter as shown in the link below and move the carb stud to the outer hole in the adapter. Then hook the cable and linkage just like the factory did.

http://www.edelbrock.com/automotive_new/misc/tech_center/install/1000/1481.pdf

The archives have diagrams of the various linkage setups.

Thanks for the links, but I all ready had directions, but they don't show much, I replace my old eddy carb with a new one, but the way someone had the old carb setup, It was not getting full throttle, but it did drive smooth!

I also don't think that it has the stock throttle cable, because as you can see in the pic it sticks up!

from what i see in the pic, once you get the mopar throttle adaptor bolted on.

you may have to cut and add to the stock bracket that bolts to the intake with the throttle valve bellcrank.

just weld in a peice of flat stock to raise the throttle cable clamp level with the stud on the mopar adaptor.

the bell cank stays in stock location this way and will work the TV linkage.

edelbrock sells a threded adaptor to go on the end of the TV rod at the carb to make it longer, the sloted piece will then tred on for adjusting.

at most you might add some round stock to the TV carb rod and bend an offset to help aline it up from bell crank to carb stud.

thats the down side of the tall intakes like the one thats on it in the pic,but not hard to mod-o-fry to work ok.

IF? that is not the correct throttle cable,I would replace it and mod the brackets to bring it back to stock parts and adjustments.( i can see much of the throttle cable hook up cuase the chebby wire loom is blocking it )

good luck

haha! Yes they are!
I had a big block that would occasionally backfire when too cold and I had a couple occasions where I had to open the hood and put that sucker out. Too funny.

did you install the adapter ? if not then you are going to still have problems , the adapter is pretty self explanatory to install , it only lines up with 2 holes and the stud goes in the one open hole on the adapter .
