Georgia, United States,
I just viewed a post called 62, 63, 64, 65 B-body drag cars and I saw a lot of the older guy would paint or put sticker all over their cars. I was wondering does anyone know why everyone done this. I was thinking this would tell everyone what you have on your car or in your car. Or maybe your spouser does anyone know?

Some of those cars are "recreated" to appear like the original car or what one would have looked like in the 1960's when they were originally raced. It's called "period correct". When they have certain races for specifically those "nostalgia" cars, it's like going back in time. It could be comparable to a "sock hop" party with music and people dressed up like they did in the '50's. Or a Civil War recreation where people dress, act, camp out and have "war games" to make things appear like they did during the Civil War.

1962 to 1965 Mopar site.

I raced at the bracket word finals when i raced in super pro or top the class was called from 1989 to 1998 in my ROADRUNNER for the track if you run in points all year the track would take 32 cars from the track to the finals and they would be about 35 tracks there and if you won a class you would get money for the sticks and the name on the car was cool are that`s what a race car looked like are that`s what i was thinking but that was a dream i had i guess as a kid

those of us who were there in 62 might tell you decals were a part of the "look". Remember back then we didn't even have custom wheels.Anyone's ride that was sporting Isky,MoonEyes or Clay Smith's red headed woodpecker logo were to be feared. They could have those parts on them,.

Then came the 70's and it was Lakewood, Hi-Jackers, Hooker, Accel, Hurst, Thrush, Mr. Gasket, etc.. Like Fred said...it certainly sent a message.

The funny part is that you had to display the decal (and no other for the same product) to get co9ntingency money, but some weren't actually using the decal product - especially cams.

very true. In 1969 Crane was the first I can remember to ask for their cam number. Before that trend guys would try to collect from two cam companies. one for cam the other lifters or springs
