Well after much issue and fan fare. It looks like the Coronet 440 issue was a cam bearing. Second bearing decided it didn't like my 440 much and started to walk out. Of course the lifters felt bad about such a disgrace and proceeded to bite the cam. Well my XE268 cam is a sturdy dude and it decided to bite back. Well it won!

2 particulary bitey lifters

If you look in the background you will see the [Edited by Moparts - Family Friendly Site - Keep it clean] of a cam bearing which was sized to small to fit properly.

Anyway, said XE 268 cam bite hard, but lifters bite back and the long and short of it, results in a rather bumpy paperweight

Well new cam bearings, no need to have line bored. The rest of it looks good. So.... it looks like I pulled the bull by the tail and walked away. (hopefully....time will of course tell)

Well after much fan fear and a lot of pennies this is the result

Well figured it was done Mike. I bought the shortblock built and ready to go. One would hope said builder would properly size them.

I still cant wrap my head around this happening after 2 years run time.

I would now be going over it with a fine tooth comb and checking everything. Specifically looking for an oiling issue.
