By not going down all the way do you mean the corner by the wind shield is sticking up???

Can you push the corner down by hand when the hood is closed....

If yes did you replace the hood springs??

Alot of people think their hinges are bad, when often it is the springs.

The hood hinges are not alined properly, adjust them just the oppisite than you would think. Resto rick has the directions on his website.
imo lot's of hinges don't need to be rebuilt, just installed properly. web page

Not totally sure of what you're describing, but it sounds like you may have to loosen the rear two bolts (to inner fender), and allow the rear of the hinge base to go up. This will rotate the hinge allowing the hinge to go down more.
Going all the way down with the adjustment slots isn't always what you need.

Knowing you were having some fitment trouble before the hinge rebuild, the other thing I can think of is that maybe your inner fender was repaired such that the mount area was moved. (not likely).

Rick

If you can't push it down I don't think it is the spring.

It's not the spring, it's the adjustment. Thanks to Resto Rick for teaching me how to correctly adjust challenger hood hinges.

My hoods used to do that also, until I applied what Rick taught me and now my hoods fit flat every time just by closing the hood. I also using my original 40 year old hinges.
