The Victor head gaskets for my 440 don't have all the coolant holes to match to the heads. There are only 3 slots at the top instead of open holes at the top and bottom. What's the deal? I can't see how blocking holes off can help cooling

You'll be fine, leave'em alone,...I guess you just missed the thread regarding the cooling slots on BBlk head gaskets

Here is the ORIGINAL head gasket from my 383 , has a 18XXXXX part number. My 383 HP never had a heat issue for the few thousand miles I put on it , 22" factory 3 core rad , shroud , 7 blade fixed fan , 3.91 gears , 65 on the highway with 90 degree heat was never an issue .

So I guess this design was an update perhaps to restrict coolant flow thru the heads to even out temperatures.
I'll just carry on then
