Breaking news about next weekends race........

Straight from the mouth of Jeff Johnson at 9:00pm tonight. All Box class racing at MCIR next weekend will be run on the 1/8th mile. There is too much concern about high speed cars on the shut down still at this track to take a chance. Hope this encourages some of you on the fence about going to make the journey. Also to make it perfectly straigh Friday is a fun day box gambler/no box gambler, Saturday is Box run for the purse, no box run for the purse, and following saturdays eliminations there will be an additional box/no box gamblers race to keep us racing into the night.

Is the whole event going to be run 1/8th mile or just box?

Box and the 10.5 heads up will be 1/8th mile, the rest are 1/4

Thank god --- If NSS was 1/8 mile I would stay home

I hope the top end and shut down is smoothed out. I have concerns about trying to get slowed down there.poppaj

As usual, I will be selling all the fiberglass Mopar parts that we make and at this event we will be having a stock pile of used compitition wheel tire combos--M&H, Goodyear, Firestone, Hoosier, M/T --- Super Tricks, Welds, etc. Some of these combos can be bolted on and raced this weekend. How about a big box of brand new OEM wedge and max wedge spark plugs. Talk to my new sales rep, Phil Roar , on Saturday, and get the deal you need. Had the Cuda out at Trails for test and tune on Friday night, and if I can have a 14x32 blow out in the traps at trails with no damage, then MCIR should be a piece of cake on the upper end. See you there !

Ok, why would Box and 10.5 be 1/8th mile and S/S be 1/4 mile? Alot of the S/S cars run well into the 9's.

Glassman, I wouldn't want to see anyone blow a tire anywhere on the track. It sounds to me that you were just plain lucky. However if the track is too rough for cars with 32" tires running 10.50's, then why wholdn't it be too rough for a car running 9.80's on 10.5" tires?

I have went 160 and dad has gone 145 without any trouble getting stopped. I have been on rougher tracks in Ohio.

Yep, I was plain lucky that when the inner tube blew, the actual seal on the rim kept most of the air contained within the tire, enough to get me back to the trailer. After talking to Animal Mike about it, we decided that the tube was at least 15 years old. NOT GOOD. As far as MCIR I have seen Bullit Bob Reed dial his ss/ah car in at that track , and run right on his dial in. Maybe because all s/s cars run stock front suspension is the reason for the 1/4-1/8th mile race difference. Maybe a safety factor?

I don't have any problems with the track, it has it's own "personality". I have seen several post about the track, just wondering how many have actually been down it this year or even last.

Will Roland Osbourne be there promoting the NHOA in some type of capacity, if so what is planned at this event regarding the old clubs that you mentioned earlier in another post.

I just looked up the track on Google, it looks like there are about 3 trees on the whole property. That sun is going to be brutal. I am bringing LOTS of water.

Dennis, yes the only trees are the ones around the pond. The concession does have an overhang that shades the picnic tables...so yes alot of water and gatorade is going to be needed this weekend...

Hope you have a good weekend...
