I'm using a 440 source pump and housing on my max wedge clone. No problems.

NO real plus to it 'cept a couple of pounds weight-savings. uNless you are really concerned with weight ... stick to something from 440S that will help HP ... like their heads or oil pans. OR stick it into a better intake manifold.

I'm running one. Good economical if you don't have a housing and pump, or want a nice shiny new aluminum set.

No cooling issues, but I have a fan shroud and clutch fan to help too.

I got the iron stuff but my car is trimming weight, its just like the old FE fords when they started making aluminum intake manifolds for them its the a matter of why have that heavy shhh on there if theres an alternative.Appreciate the comments,i have a Edel RPM intake that works good.I just think the iron housing and pump are dead weight that just helps the nose heaviness.Just needed quality concerns adressed, thanks for the insight though

The aluminum housing saves a bunch of weight. The aluminum water pumps weigh about the same as the cast iron pumps so there isn't really any savings there. But, some of the newer aluminum water pumps have a better impeller design so the system might flow more water if everything fits together properly.

A friend had a real issue with his 440 water pump. The passages through the water pump were small and restricted water flow. It created cooling issues. A switch of the water pump solved the problem.
They may have fixed the problem?

The 440S water pump housings got a really bad rap when some of them had restricted ports that contributed to heating issues.

Do a search for it on Moparts and you will find many separate bash-fests.

So was this told to the 440source?What would be the chance of buying a current new one from them doing this?

I ran the housing and pump for a while. Engine got hotter than it used to if it idled for a while. I swapped the pump for a stock type iron pump and it ran cool again at idle. The pump is an odd design, the blades are cast into it and are very shallow, worked well as long as the car was moving but got hot in traffic. The housing gets slated for being restricted but my car runs cool, even in the summer, so I don't think the housing is the problem.

I run one on my 512RB 4spd 70 Charger RT with the Source WP housing but a stock type WP because the source WP had clearance issues with my billet pulleys.

Aftermarket aluminum radiator with no shroud and it never gets over 195 degrees in stop and go traffic and it was 105 degrees yesterday when crusing around town.

I will be getting a shroud anyways.

I had plenty of trouble with there houseing. As mentioned the water passages are much smaller then stock. I couldn't keep the motor from over heating. Went back to stock cast runs at 180 degree's all day.
