A 360 has different external balance so unless you want to swap balancer and flywheel/torque converter you need the Mag. Second, I think you are going to find that there is no such thing as a "better" parts store shortblock. There is only a "less bad" one. You are going to get a lot of replies telling you to rebuild your original engine, so let me be the first...... R.
