I need to replace my ignition switch on my 68 GTX but don't remember how it comes out. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Rob

there is a tool that fits in the chrome piece around it to unscrew it. depending on how nice it is on your car, some people just user a screw driver and hammer to spin it off. then it comes out the back of the dash.

I just changed it on my '68. I used a pair of needle nose plyers. The tips fit into one set of the opposing slots, and it screwed right out.

Thanks for the tips! I will try the needle nose trick tonight when I get home.

Thanks,
Rob

Heavy snap ring pliers work great also.I have SnapOn that can either expand or contract depending where you put them together.Rocky

FWIW, I put a bit of electrical tape on the plier tips to avoid scratching the nut when I did mine...

And if you have the light package with light above switch, be careful as it has a round bracket that surrounds the switch assembly behind dash.
