Please post ur 67 915 combo ,I would like to know how much compression at cc's and deck and what cam specs and et at what weight ...I am working on putting my combo togeather and cant get the compression I want ,,,thanks
I wouldn't waste my time or money on a old set of stock cast iron heads when brand new good quality aluminum heads are availble at a resonable price Todays gas is not compatable with cast iron heads on pump gas and it will probally not get any better in the near future The new aluminum heads like the Edlebrock RPM are a close chamber that flow way past what the iron heads will flow stock, more flow = more power If you want the "stock" appearance then the new 440 Source aluminum Stleath heads would be the better choice for appearance sake :scopeout :Sorry for raining on your parade, look clsoely at the money spent fixing up a set of 915, new hard seats, bigger valves, magnafluxing, guides and so on and then think about the results and longivety of which choice is the better one for you

The Edlebrock RPM heads flow about the same as the best ported 915 head. By the time you pay someone to port the 915 and put the bigger valves & valve job you will end up with about the same amount of $$$ as buying a set of Edlebrock RPM heads which are 40 lbs lighter. I am not a big fan of the Edlebrocks but $$$-$$$ they are a better choice than the 915 heads. SORRY!!! PS all these new aluminum after market heads are far better than what come on all those import cars back in the 80's.NO CRACKS

Not mine
ANY and I mean ANY head or aftermarket part should be checked and inspected before it's bolted on a motor. As stated can add additional expense to the base price.
To the OP, It just matters what YOU want for a combination and what YOU have to work with. Also what you are capable of doing yourself and what kind of performance you are after. By the way the fastest way to remove cc's is to angle mill them
Me personally, I enjoy kicking around the 500" motors with roller cams and aftermarket heads. Usually in lighter cars with aftermarket suspensions and trans brakes. Nothing against anybody who prefers to go the aftermarket route, it is easier. This is just what "I" prefer to do at the moment and what was laying around in the garage when it was built.
Greg p.s. my Indy-1 top end pakckage is 3 tenths slower than my 915's

There are some of us that can't use Aluminium heads, for the class rules. There are lots of places I can't truck pull competitivly and run Aluminium heads. The class I am running in requires production heads. So that means I'm stuck with 906, 915, 452.....so then the 915 is what I run.
Thats why some of us ask these questions.

Here is my combo with ported&polished 915 heads from the 80's a little different from most back then, but it made more HP than most back then. This build was done by some Big Mopar guys back then. "Lighten" 12-1 .125 dome Speed Pro pistons Comp-Cams R286/750 (most thought it was to big,but that is what made the engine run so well)D-C rods(not 6-pack)std 3.75 crank 8qt oil pan(a better oil pan is a must)balanced with a Weiand tunnel ram 2 4779 DP carbs with the choke towers milled of sq jetted @ 78 in the summer & 80 in the fall & spring. Most of their engines had 1050's on a M1 intake(don't know the jet size on them)and made 31 hp less. If you have or can find, borrow the old Direct-Connect book from the 70's& 80's you will find this build. I know its now 2011 but if you want to use the 915 heads this is still one of the best combo's you can run.The only change now is you can buy some better pistons with a .125 dome and not have to lighted them. Good Luck with the build and I hope this helps you better than my 1st post.

915 heads stainless valves stock size, ported, polished, chamber polished (80cc). SRP pistons (flat top with 6cc reliefs) .020 in hole with .020 steel shim head gasket. 10.4 compression with perfect quench. Currently running the MP .528 cam ,however there is enough clearance to run a .620 lift.
