Well working on the car today took off the v/c and ripped the gasket. I think they were the fel-pro black thick ones. I think they are about 5-6 years old. Is there anything better out there now a days

What valve cover and what cylinder head? Some work better than others in different applications.
Send Gregg(Roadhazard) a PM for the best gasket and advice

Gregg's red gaskets are the best for that application

Moroso Blue with the steel core. Had mine a few years and have done many valve lash adjustments with no leaks. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MOR-93055/

I like the Morosos too, have never heard of Gregg's red gaskets though. Morosos practically last forever.

How long do you expect out of a gasket ?

thats what i was thinking. 6 years from a gasket & you're looking for something better? i'm using felpro 1612's and are happy to get one seasons leak free use from them. 6 years worth & i'd be over the moon.

I use and sell both the Superformance and Moroso, and with a good cast valve cover, the Superformance work great. The Moroso works fine, but it is a bit more prone to tear if the surfaces arent aligned well.

Rob,I agree with my good friend Gus! Greg's vc gaskets work very well on my engine! Eddy heads and MP aluminum valve covers. The Moroso blue silicone gaskets worked well for me also. The Superformance gaskets are made out of a very durable material...won't be surprised if they last at least 5-6 yrs...with 1 lash adjustment a season! BTW..Greg is a REAL GOOD GUY!...and a Moparts member!

I' ve tried 2 sets of the moroso ones and they've split twice, just put Greg's on one side with no silicon and it hasn't leaked yet.
Good guy to deal with as well.

The Cometic gaskets I've used have held up really well, but I think you need to have flat machined surfaces on both the heads and valve covers.

Seems like the FelPros fiber gaskets have been pretty much a "one and done" every time I've tried to reinstall them. I probably have a set sitting around for an emergency, but that's the only time I'll use them again.
