Hi all
I thought I would get suggestion on a good street/ strip cam for my car. I would like something that has good street manner with enough vacuum to run my power breaks (12psi) Ok here is the vital. Yet enough to take advantage of good breathing above .500 lift.
440 bored 30 over reconditioned rods Keith black pistons, stealth 440source heads, Holley street dominator intake, Hedman 13/4" shorty headers.
I would be open to hydraulic or rollers.
Thanks
Mike

Give one of the cam gurus here a call.I would think a nice solid lifter would work well.
My thought is why would a man who is ok with running a roller cam settle for 1 3/4 shorty headers?Go get some 1 7/8 long tubes if you want to make all the power you can.Just my opinion.

What are the specs on that cam? I can't find it anywhere. Thanks
Mike
You would want a wide LSA with your power brakes... such as the 113 lsa like suggested

My FAVORITE Hydraulic cam for a mild 440 is the Crower 271 HDP, I've recommended this cam on moparts for years and people have been very happy with this "bigger than it seems but ultra streetable" stick. The Crower asymmetrical mopar lobes are what the motor wants and as proof they rev higher/pull harder than they look like they will on paper, no other way to put it. It's 222/234 @.050 and .486/.496 lift (.518/.529 w 1.6's), 112 split and in +5 at 107 with your smallish headers. Absolutely wall to wall torque, plenty of vaccuum, and great top-end pull. I agree with George that a 1 7/8" long tube header would give you extra lb/ft through the middle, money well spent amd the Hooker is a still a comparative bargain with a thick tube and flange that lasts a long time, probebly forever if you jet hot it Add a Performer RPM and a 750-850 DP and you're gonna smile great big every time to roll on it; and you're friends are gonna want to hang on to something when you nail it....pretty much the best of all worlds for a mild hydraulic. The SD is a great manifold and it'll will still work very well, but for a milder type combo the RPM will have better idle vaccuum and a slight edge in torque until about 4000rpm. To me this is the cam that makes the best of the natural massive torque charachteristics of a 440 magnum, the one that enhances it all throughout the powerband. FWIW, even with the stealths you should still concentrate on your Mid lift flows, with a smallish port wedge head and mild cam duration you gotta remember that this is where the port window is open (bwteen 1/3 and 2/3) the majority of the time.

Thanks everyone for the great help! I really like the profile on that one that Brian picked out (ou812) I had my stealth heads looked over before i put them on and they seemed to really breath when I got into the .500 and greater lift area, so I like the set up on that one.
As always you guys are awesome! Mike
