I need to get a shift light. I am looking at the Auto Meter's Digital Pro Shift System. Are the LED lights to bright? You can buy this one with 5 programmable shift points and it also has a launch setting. I usually do not watch the rpm's on the tach when footbreaking and just listen to the motor. If I have to look at the rpm's it distracts me from the tree. Has anyone ever used the shift light with the launch setting? It seems that the launch setting might help. Anyone ever use one of these for the launch setting?

I bought one a couple years back. It took a while to get used to. I wired it to the brake switch and had to do the burnout, stop near the stage beams and set the light, then make sure I didn't lift the brake peddle too much or it would ititiate the shift light. The launch light flashes rapidly and can be distracting. There are several brightness settings for both day and night. I think sometimes I would have been better off with an air or electric shifter.

Yeah, it's got a smallblock.
